Presented at JIA CURATED 2026 from 13–17 August 2026, Ahti Interiors unveiled VIDAR, an exclusive collection by acclaimed architectural designer Alexis Dornier. Set at Pengembak Beach, Sanur, the exhibition brought together architecture, craftsmanship, art, and sensory design in an immersive installation that celebrated the beauty of everyday ritual.
A shared vision
The collaboration between AHTI Interiors and Alexis Dornier was founded on a mutual appreciation for timeless design, honest materials, and exceptional craftsmanship. For Alexis, architecture is about shaping experiences—considering how people move through space, interact with materials, and connect with their surroundings. His work is recognised for its expressive forms, refined simplicity, and seamless relationship with nature.
These principles naturally align with AHTI Interiors’ commitment to creating bathroom collections that balance technical excellence with enduring design. Together, they set out to create something that felt effortless, purposeful, and built to last.
Based in Bali, Alexis Dornier is an internationally recognised architect whose work spans residential, hospitality, and commercial projects globally. Known for pushing the boundaries of contemporary architecture, he combines innovative structures with a deep respect for craftsmanship and place. Through thoughtful proportions, natural materials, and an intuitive understanding of light, Alexis creates spaces that are both bold and deeply human. His approach has earned international recognition and established him as one of the leading voices in contemporary tropical architecture.
Introducing VIDAR
VIDAR represents the meeting point between architecture and product design. Inspired by clarity of form and the beauty of restraint, the collection embraces balanced proportions, refined detailing, and tactile finishes that invite interaction. Every element was carefully considered for its appearance and everyday use. Rather than following trends, VIDAR was designed to integrate naturally into contemporary spaces, allowing architecture and interiors to speak in one cohesive language.
The result is a collection that reflects quiet confidence and enduring quality, expressing both technical excellence and the authenticity of the maker’s hand.
A celebration of craft
The VIDAR collection drew inspiration from the enduring spirit of Balinese craftsmanship—a tradition in which making is guided by patience, precision, and a deep respect for the material. It is this philosophy, rather than ornament alone, that shaped the collection’s approach to design.
A defining feature of the collection is its hand-hammered finish, introducing a new expression for AHTI’s sanitary ware envisioned by Alexis Dornier. Each textured surface captures the subtle irregularities that only handcraft can achieve, giving every piece a unique character and tactile richness. The result is a finish that feels timeless, where the marks of the maker become part of the design itself.
Conceived by Alexis Dornier, this handcrafted approach introduces a bold new expression for AHTI’s sanitary ware. Architectural in form yet rich in human touch, the collection reimagines everyday bathroom objects as sculptural pieces that balance precision with imperfection.
The Loom: an architectural installation
The VIDAR collection was presented within The Loom, an open bamboo-and-jute pavilion envisioned by Alexis Dornier. Rather than functioning as a conventional exhibition booth, the pavilion became an architectural framework that allowed the collection to exist in dialogue with its surroundings.
Inspired by the form of a traditional loom and the coastal landscape of Pengembak Beach, the installation featured a bamboo framework, woven shading, filtered light, and an open spatial rhythm. Bamboo and natural fibre surfaces expressed a connection to craftsmanship and temporary architecture, while the structure remained open to the movement of air, the changing coastal light, and the shifting texture of the sand.
Within this setting, the VIDAR collection was presented alongside the sculptural works of Maverick Lee. The interplay of woven materials, handcrafted metal finishes, and contemporary sculpture created an immersive environment where architecture, design, and art were experienced as one.
The concept of weaving extended beyond the pavilion itself—a metaphor for collaboration that brought together Ahti Interiors, Alexis Dornier, Maverick Lee Studio, and Utama Spice. From bathroom fittings and architecture to sculpture and natural wellness, each practice contributed its own perspective to a shared spatial narrative.
A multisensory experience
Completing the installation was a sensory journey curated with Utama Spice. Integrated throughout the space were carefully selected botanical fragrances that enriched the atmosphere, adding another layer to the visitor experience.
Together, architecture, sculpture, craftsmanship, and scent created an immersive environment that encouraged visitors to slow down, explore, and reconnect with the rituals of everyday living.
