Ravenna, Italy – SICIS has embarked on a path that has led to the achievement of relevant internationally recognised certifications in terms of quality, safety and social responsibility, both for glass mosaic and Vetrite.
In support of the commitment to the environment, SICIS glass mosaic and Vetrite, glass and polymers slabs, underwent tests that confirm the ecological characteristics and their relative contribution to certifications such as LEED, “Green Communities” and “Green Globes”. The Company, with the productions of glass mosaic and Vetrite, supports the design concept of BIOPHILIA.
'Biophilia' means love for life and the ecosystem that governs it and the existence of an instinctive bond between human beings and all other living forms. A fundamental value that the Company has embraced and considers in the creation of each product, in the choice of raw materials, in the processes, in every possible interaction between what is produced and the environment.
When the general sensibility was not yet so strong on these topics, SICIS mosaic already fully interpreted the concept. An example is the fact that the architect Luis De Garrido, famous for his projects respecting the environment and sustainability, in 1985 chose SICIS mosaics to create the interiors of the 'Glass House', built in Barcelona, which became one of the forerunner projects of eco-sustainability in the world. Invited to take part in the project, SICIS proposed the collection that best corresponds to the idea of transparency and brightness: WaterGlass mosaic. The result is a kaleidoscope of reflections and colours, with a pleasant "liquid effect".
The transparent and iridescent glass mosaics of the Glimmer collection are a further example of both the sustainability of the product and how the mosaic can lend itself to the interpretations of a variety of projects, as well as the Iridium collection and others more.
The mosaic and Vetrite are therefore naturally resistant to bacteria and mold, creating a positive impact on the internal ambience quality, durability and reducing the need for toxic cleaning agents.
They are in fact antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-mold, self-sanitizing.
