Renson reinforces commitment to sustainability and society with new must-have.

As an effective way to prevent the inside of a home from overheating, fabric sun protection forms a sustainable solution for a healthy indoor climate. During the production of these screens, Renson is fully committed to using renewable energy, ensuring its products last as long as possible, and limiting any residual waste. Even so, a certain amount of leftover screen fabric is inevitable. Some of these fabric scraps are now being given a new lease of life: they are used as the base material for an exclusive Renson tote bag, manufactured by customisation specialists ‘t Veer in Menen (Belgium).

650 kg of waste recovered
During the production of screens, fabric is cut to size — and fabric scraps are produced as a result. The new tote bags recover around 260 grammes of screen fabric scraps per bag. 2024 will see the first 2.500 of these special tote bags produced, repurposing no less than 650 kilograms of fabric waste in the initial phase of this project. Leen Vermeir, Supply Chain Manager at Renson: "This is not the first time we have recycled waste from our production processes, nor the first time we have lent a social purpose to our recycling efforts. The toiletry bags we produced for Stand Up to Cancer were similar."

The new Renson must-have aligns perfectly with the company’s corporate values. Sustainable, innovative design is the central thread running right through its ventilation, sun protection and outdoor living ranges — something that now extends to its tote bags, which are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to maintain.

Partnership with customisation specialist
To manufacture the tote bags, Renson is calling on customisation specialist ‘t Veer in Menen (BE). The ‘green’ bags meticulously take shape at their confection department. "Our employees think it’s a great project to work on", Production Manager Yoeri Vermeersch comments. "At ‘t Veer too, sustainability is high on our agenda. As such, we jumped on the opportunity to be able to make this type of product and contribute to a more environmentally conscious society."
