Bangkok, Thailand – After a hiatus of over two years due to COVID, Building Construction Technology Expo (BCT Expo 2022) – Southeast Asian exhibition and conference on building and construction industry – finally took place in a face-to-face market setting at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre, Bangkok Thailand from 21-23 September 2022. Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, the organiser through perseverance managed to bring this year’s event from its previous virtual domain, to the much-awaited face-to-face live setting. BCT Expo’s last live event was back in 2019. For over three days, there was finally the buzz of face-to-face activities on the show floor as construction professionals and businesses re-connect and re-engage in this post-pandemic market, for plenty of overdue business discussions, deals and exchanges.

BCT Expo 2022 saw over 120 exhibitors from 8 countries showcasing their building and construction technology, digital solutions, machinery system and equipment, covering all sectors of the building and construction industry. Over 3760 trade visitors from 23 countries attended, which included VIP buyers, trade buyers, construction professionals, conference delegates, government officials, media, industry associations and construction- related educational institutions.

Highly successful business matching program

One successful highlight of BCT Expo 2022 is its Business Matching Program. Over 100 VIP buyers from Thailand and the surrounding regional markets participated in the program, with over 632 pre-arranged business meetings conducted, providing opportunities for buyers and sellers to connect, discuss new partnerships and forge business deals.

A well-attended knowledge exchange platform

BCT Expo 2022 also featured a well-attended knowledge exchange platform comprising more than 45 seminar topics, conducted by 59 industry professionals and industry gurus, discussing the latest industry trends, market opportunities, solutions, innovations, best practices, and technology disruptions impacting today’s building and construction sector.

Served as a Public - Private sector engagement platform

BCT Expo 2002 served as a key “Public-Private sector engagement platform” that acted as the bridge for related government agencies to connect, brief and update the private sector on government’s  infrastructure development plans, smart city projects, sustainability policies, site safety regulations, and public project tender process.

Highly satisfied exhibitors and attendees

Exhibitors and attendees were pleased that after over two years of absence, they finally have the opportunity to re-engage and re-connect with their markets in a face-to-face setting. They were also highly satisfied with the overall quality of the event, and the business networking opportunities presented.

“For the past two years, our company’s sales make little progress due to the pandemic. This year, we finally have the opportunity to be in BCT Expo to demonstrate our new equipment and meet with new customers and potential partners. The results has been promising and I am confident that we will be able to achieve our sales targets this year!” said Mr. ChatChai Rungsripaiboon, Managing Director Rep Floor / Reentech Co., Ltd., Thailand.

“BCT Expo serves as an effective platform to push for BIM adoption and digital transformation in Thailand, enabling design, construction and engineering professionals to work together. While BCT Expo’s BIM & Tech Pavilion showcased the latest digital and technology solutions, we are pleased to have successfully organized our Thai BIM Association (TBIM) conferences, which was a well-attended gathering of BIM professionals to network, discuss on trends and career opportunities, and address issues affecting our BIM profession today. We are looking forward to expand our collaborations in BCT Expo 2023,” said Dr. Sant Chansomsak, President, Thai BIM Association, Thailand.

“Facilities management is a wide-reaching field that assists with many activities within the construction industry.  BCT Expo is an effective platform for our association to highlight the importance of the FM field in the building and construction sector, especially smart facility management. We are pleased to be part of BCT Expo as a supporting organisation,” said Mr. Piti Anontapant, President, Thailand Facility Management Association (TFMA), Thailand

BCT Expo continues to help drive digitalisation of building and construction sector

The construction industry has been slow in embracing digital transformation. However, the situation is changing due to digital disruptive effects on the industry, coupled by impacts from COVID-19 pandemic.

BCT Expo will also continue to focus and drive the digitalization of the building and construction sector in Thailand and ASEAN.  The theme of BCT Expo will continue to be “Towards Digitalization of the building and construction industry….Are you ready?”

BCT Expo’s Building Information Modelling & Technology (BIM & Tech) Pavilion with its display of the latest building and construction technology solutions had indeed generated much interest from the industry. Moving forward, BCT Expo will continue to collaborate with the Thai Building Modelling Association (TBIM) to introduce even more BIM, digital and technology related solutions for next year’s event.

BCT Expo 2023 to be bigger in size and scale

With the resumption of face-to-face meetings as the industry moves towards a post-pandemic market environment, BCT Expo 2023 promises to be bigger in size and scale, focusing on key areas impacting the building and construction industry today, such as digitalization, technology, innovations, sustainability, safety, and human resource.
