Singapore – Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) has announced the recipients of the SIA Architectural Design Awards 2021, the profession’s highest recognition of works that exemplify excellence in architectural design.
Selected from 97 submissions, 5 Design Awards and 11 Merit Awards emerged in 7 submission categories. In addition, one project is conferred the “Design of The Year”.
The submissions were evaluated based on attributes such as Architectural Quality, Originality / Innovation, Sensitivity to Context, Environmental Sustainability & Climatic Response, Response to Users’ Needs, and Elegance of Construction & Detail.
The judging panel comprised local and international industry professional Ar. Richard Lai, (President, Singapore Institute of Architects); Professor Ho Puay Peng (Head of Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore); Ar. Yip Yuen Hong (Partner, ipli Architects); Mr Pitupong Chaowakul (Founder, Supermachine Studio); and Adjunct Professor Kirsti Simpson (Principal, Hassell).
