The third InnoEX, co-organised by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), officially opened today (13–16 April) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Held concurrently with the 21st Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) (EFSE), the twin events bring together over 2,800 exhibitors from 29 countries and regions. The exhibitions showcase cutting-edge intelligent solutions aimed at addressing industry pain points and unlocking new business opportunities. Professionals from the innovation and technology sectors, as well as investors, trade buyers, and end users, including SMEs who are invited to attend and explore sourcing opportunities.
InnoEX and the EFSE are flagship events of the Business of Innovation and Technology Week (BIT Week). At the BIT Week opening ceremony, Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, delivered the opening remarks, while Margaret Fong, Executive Director of the HKTDC, gave a welcome speech. In her address, Ms. Fong stated,“BIT Week is more than just a series of events, but a testament to Hong Kong’s role as an international innovation and technology (I&T) hub. Hong Kong’s strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and business-friendly environment make it an ideal destination for cutting-edge research, investment, and entrepreneurship.”
Ms. Fong also mentioned that this year’s InnoEX has over 500 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions, representing a diverse lineup of world-class innovators, R&D centres, and technology pioneers. Japan, Thailand and the UK have expanded their participation, and welcomes first-time participation from Australia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Sweden and the UAE, enhancing the international stature of the fair. Alongside InnoEX is the EFSE which is showcasing the latest in consumer electronics to international buyers.
InnoEX spotlights Mainland China low-altitude economy solutions and robotics
InnoEX and the EFSE bring together pavilions and exhibitors from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macao and other regions across Asia; including ASEAN members, as well as the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Oceania.
InnoEX spotlights some of the most in-demand and anticipated technology sectors, including the low-altitude economy, smart mobility, artificial intelligence, robotics, and cybersecurity—showcasing a wide array of innovative smart solutions.
Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, and Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, visited exhibitors at InnoEX to show their support. Professor Sun also hosted the InnoEX welcome dinner last night, which was attended by exhibitors, buyers, and industry representatives.
As Hong Kong actively develops its low-altitude economy, InnoEX features several rapidly emerging drone and aerial vehicle companies showcasing their latest innovations. Among them is Shanghai-based Vertaxi (Booth: 3B-B02A), whose drones have been deployed in flood relief operations across Mainland China. Sichuan-based Aerofugia (Booth: 3B-B03) is also presenting its electric aerial car at the event. In the area of smart mobility, Hong Kong’s Novautek Autonomous Driving Limited (Booth: 3E‑B11) is exhibiting an unmanned vehicle capable of delivering food and parcels—even in adverse weather conditions and on steep slopes.
Artificial intelligence continues to gain traction across a wide range of industries. Cyberport has brought TradeMonday (Booth: 3D‑A01) to InnoEX to showcase its data analytics platform for the retail sector, which helps SMEs gather competitive intelligence and refine their market strategies. Highlighting the rapid advancement in robotics, the Guangdong Pavilion’s High Torque (Booth: 3E-B01) has unveiled a 10 kg humanoid robot capable of walking, jumping, and navigating obstacles. The robot is already being used by universities for hands-on programming training, helping students build practical coding skills.
As cybersecurity becomes increasingly vital, Hong Kong exhibitor Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited (Booth: 3E-B09) is showcasing a deepfake-detection solution capable of identifying face-swap and voice-mimicry scams with 98% accuracy.
The Smart Hong Kong Pavilion, organised by the Digital Policy Office, highlights data-driven and AI-powered applications, featuring over 100 innovative projects that enhance everyday life. Among the highlights are solutions from 20 government bureaux and departments, as well as award-winning entries from various innovation competitions. One standout project is the Architectural Services Department’s “Wall Climbing Robot,” which can scale rough and glass surfaces to perform building façade inspections—improving accuracy while eliminating the risks associated with high-altitude manual work.
The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) is showcasing 16 park companies at its pavilion, spanning three core sectors: AI & Data, Digital Transformation, and Micro-Electronics & Sustainable Technology. Notable innovations include Green Vigor’s patented Hydro Power Intelli-Recycle system, which captures unused energy from building water supply systems and converts it into renewable energy. In addition, eight HKSTP park companies are also participating in the Electronics Fair (Spring Edition).
Themed Exhibition
InnoEX features four themed days, each offering forums and seminars focused on trending technology topics. Today’s theme (13 April) spotlights the low-altitude economy and the technology-driven economy. The highlight event, the Tech-Driven Industry and Economy Conference—presented by the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises of the HKSAR Government—was held under the theme “Empowering Industry for a Connected Global Economy.” Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, delivered the opening speech.
The conference brought together government officials and industry experts to explore how policy frameworks can foster industrial development, drive innovation, and support sustainable growth. Speakers also shared successful international practices and emerging trends shaping the future of tech-driven economies.
The remaining themed days of InnoEX include AI and Robotics Technology (14 April) and Cybersecurity (15 April). The final day (16 April) will focus on Solutions for SMEs, where government departments and technology solution providers will present support programmes and innovative tools designed to help SMEs grow and thrive.
EFSE showcases cutting-edge products.
Running alongside InnoEX, the 21st EFSE continues under the theme "World’s Leading Electronics Marketplace," with a focus on smart home technology, health tech, and wearable devices. In the smart home sector, local exhibitor Tuya (Booth: 1B-F02) has partnered with major appliance brands to enable seamless interconnectivity across smart home ecosystems, allowing users to control appliances from different brands through a single app.
In health tech and wearable devices, Mainland China exhibitor Shenzhen Minew Technologies (Booth: 5E-E20) will showcase an electronic bedside tag for hospitals. This device displays patient conditions and medication schedules, with data updated centrally to reduce labor requirements and minimize errors.
Returning this year, the Digital Entertainment Experiential Zone offers immersive e-sports and interactive gaming experiences, including boxing, rowing, and sailing simulations, for participants and buyers. The key event of EFSE, the Tech Trends Symposium, will take place tomorrow under the theme "AI on the Go: A New Era of Intelligent Wearable Electronics." The symposium will feature industry leaders discussing how AI-powered smart glasses, rings, and other wearables are reshaping work and daily life.
Events at BIT Week
InnoEX and the EFSE serve as the cornerstone events of BIT Week, spearheaded by the HKSAR Government’s Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Other key highlights of BIT Week include the recently concluded Smart Lighting Expo and the Hong Kong Web3 Festival, as well as the second Hong Kong World Youth Science Conference, which also opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The conference gathers leading experts—including Nobel Prize-winning scholars—to explore frontier topics in science and innovation.
In a significant development, the World Internet Conference has, for the first time, designated Hong Kong as the host city for the Asia-Pacific Summit. The two-day summit, kicking off tomorrow at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, is expected to draw over 1,000 global participants. Discussions will focus on the latest trends in artificial intelligence, digital finance, digital governance, and smart living—creating strong synergies with the broader BIT Week agenda.
